December 1, 2002               How do I...

Make sure my antivirus program is up to date?
Most antivirus programs have a status area where you can see the last time you fully scanned your system. But, to see that your antivirus definitions are up to date, look for an area that lists your "virus definitions" and in that area look for a "Last updated" date. If this date is older than today's date, you should update your antivirus definitions.

Why is this important?
Hackers and other evil doers are trying continuously to infect computers, thus raising their relevance in the world of hackers. Your main defense against this is keeping your virus definitions current.
